First time / River celadon

Every workshop starts at the big bench, getting the feel of the clay, then moves to the wheel with one of us beside you. Six people at most, so nobody is left alone with a lump that won't centre.
You'll make two or three pieces. We trim them, you pick a glaze from our five, and they go through two firings.
They're ready about four weeks later. Collect them from the studio, or we'll post them anywhere in Australia for A$18.
Every piece we make, and every piece you make in a workshop, goes into one of these five.
Made with ash from saltbush prunings sent each winter from a farm near Hay. A soft grey-green that pools darker in the well of a bowl.
Shop Saltbush ashA pale blue-green that thins over carved lines and gathers in the hollows, like the Bellinger after rain.
Shop River celadonA rust brown, heavy with red iron oxide and speckled darker where the iron gathers.
Shop IronstoneA soft white, matte to satin, with flecks from the clay body underneath.
Shop Ash whiteNear-black and glossy, breaking to brown where it thins at the rim.
Shop TenmokuThe shop / Ironstone
New pieces go up on the first Friday of each month.

We make tableware for restaurants and for people setting up a home, from 24 pieces up. We'll send glaze tiles to your table before we start, so you can see them under your own light.

“We came for a weekend in Bellingen and the workshop was the bit we talked about on the drive home. My wonky bowl is my favourite thing in the kitchen.”
